I received sea buckthorn oil pills, but they are lighter color than the previous pills. Are they the same?

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I understand your concerns regarding the color difference in the pills, and I appreciate your feedback about communication on product changes.

The color variation you’re noticing can be attributed to a few factors related to the sea buckthorn oil extraction process:

  1. Different Parts of the Berry: If your previous order contained a batch from the pulp and the new one is from the seeds, this could explain the color difference.
    • Pulp Oil (Sea Buckthorn Fruit Oil): This oil is extracted from the soft orange pulp of the berries and is usually bright orange to reddish-brown due to its richness in carotenoids (like β-carotene and lycopene) and vitamin E.
    • Seed Oil: This oil is extracted from the tiny seeds of the berries and tends to be a yellowish to dark brown color. It has fewer carotenoids but is higher in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids.
    • Blend: Many sea buckthorn oils may contain both the pulp and seed oils as a blend unless they specify which part of the fruit the oil is extracted from.
  2. Natural Variation:
    • Sea buckthorn berries can vary in color based on the region, harvest season, and ripeness. For instance, oils from early harvests may appear lighter, while those from later harvests with riper berries tend to be darker. Even within the same supplier, different batches can exhibit this natural variation.
  3. Which is “better”?:
    • For vaginal and skin products, like those offered by NeuEve, the orange/red pulp oil is generally considered more beneficial due to its omega-7 and carotenoid content. If the newer bottle contains the lighter oil, it is likely the pulp oil, which is excellent for vaginal dryness relief.

We value your feedback and will certainly consider it for future communications. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us. We want to ensure you have the best experience with our products.
