When women get older, their tissues lose elasticity. Wrinkles show up while the vagina shrinks.
You might have seen a handicapped man in a wheelchair with thin legs. Without walking, leg muscles shrink. This means that exercise can help stop atrophy.
To reverse tissue atrophy you need to regain elasticity.
Dilation exercise physically stretches the tissue and NeuEve provides nutrients to promote tissue growth. Both promote the synthesis of elastic fibers.
Best vaginal dilators to use with NeuEve
Many of our customers reported excellent results using NeuEve together with a vaginal dilator.
We recommend the VuVa Smooth Set of 7 Dilators, for sale for $68, and the VuVa Neodymium Magnetic Set, for sale for $198.00. These are higher in price, but you're really getting what you pay for. They are worth it!
If you only have dryness and painful sex and you do not have pain when not having sex, you can use non-magnetic dilators to find relief.
However, if you have pelvic pain associated with vulvodynia, vaginismus, endometriosis, or an unknown cause, magnetic dilators may work better.
Magnetic field may influence nerve signaling and reduce pain. Here is an article about magnetic field and pain reduction:

Buy Non-Magnetic Pelvic Dilators
When you purchase the dilator set, we recommend that you get the full collection. If you do not need smaller sizes, please choose a combination that includes all large sizes.
A customer had severe atrophy and could only start with the smallest size. To save money, she chose a group that has 4 smaller sizes. After 3 months, she moved up to size 4 but she forgot that her set of dilators had only smaller sizes. There are yet 3 larger sizes. Her progress stopped at size 4 for a year. Having continued painful sex, she concluded that dilators did not work and left a bad review.
We contacted this customer and found out that her inability to make progress was due to smaller dilator sizes. After trying larger dilators, she found ultimate relief.
Thus, when you choose dilators, size matters.
How to use dilators with NeuEve?
You can do the dilation every day when you are using NeuEve. However, it is better to do it before inserting a NeuEve suppository. This will allow 24 hours for absorption of the suppository ingredients.
Please do not do the dilation immediately after your insert a suppository. This may cause loss of some suppository ingredients by sticking to the dilator. After 24 hours of the suppository insertion, you can do the daily dilation without a problem.
On the second day when you do the dilation exercise, some suppository ingredients may still stick to the dilator, but most of the nutrients have been absorbed. The loss will be negligible.
When you use the dilators in combination with NeuEve balm cream, please do not use the balm as a lube. It is not a lube. You can apply the balm about 20 minutes before the dilation exercise. Applying a tiny little bit of the balm, say only a dime size to the external vulva, you will notice secretion and moisture in 10-20 minutes.
Once the secretion started, you can start doing the dilator exercise. If more lubrication is needed, you may use the lube provided by the dilator company VuvaTech.
If you use the magnetic dilator, you need to move the dilator back and forth during the dilation exercise. Studies show that magnetic field change has a more pain reducing effect. A steady magnet has less effect.
When using vaginal dilators, it's generally recommended to gently move the dilator back and forth or side to side. This gentle movement can help stretch the surrounding tissues, gradually improving their elasticity and reducing tension. By familiarizing your body with this motion, it can be helpful for transitioning to more comfortable intercourse or other activities.
It's important to ensure that any movement is slow, controlled, and within a pain-free range. If you experience any discomfort, it's best to pause and proceed gradually, making sure the process remains comfortable and beneficial for you.
If you cannot move up the dilator size, what can you do?
One of the major symptoms of vaginal atrophy is the lack of elasticity. To grow elasticity, you will need to increase the amount of elastic fibers, called elastin, inside the tissue.
You can stretch a little bit at a time with the dilator, but you cannot force it. After receive stretching signal from each exercise, it may take 2-3 weeks for new elastic fibers to grow.
To increase the growth of elastic fibers and improve the tissue elasticity, here are some tips:
1) Increase the frequency of dilation exercise.
Instead of doing it once a day, you can do it to twice a day, morning and evening, with at least 12 hours apart.
2) Increase nutritional supply to the atrophied tissue.
a) Apply NeuEve twice as frequently as the suggested application frequency for the first month to get a head start. This means that you can use two packs of NeuEve Silk or Silver for the first month.
b) Take suggested dietary supplements. You may find this article helpful:

How about lubricant?
If you are on NeuEve for a few weeks with the suppository and balm cream, you may not need to apply any additional lubes.
Can you use the balm cream as a lube? This article provide an answer:

If you are still dry and need lubrication, it is better to use a natural product.
You can try coconut oil.
Between refined and virgin (unrefined), choose refined. The virgin coconut oil is unrefined and has coconut flavor, but it may cause allergy if you are an allergic type. The refined oil has removed all the favoring substances and is less likely to cause allergy.
Where can I find refined coconut oil?
You can find it in your local grocery shop, like Walmart. One small jar costs about $6.
Any brand is OK for this purpose. A small jar lasts a long time.
Tips for Using Dilators Safely and Effectively
- Gradual Progression: It can be tempting to move up quickly in dilator sizes or start with the largest size in hopes of speeding up the process. However, this approach may be counterproductive and lead to overstretching injuries. Vaginal recovery is a gradual process. It's important to be patient and increase dilator sizes step-by-step to avoid potential injuries.
- Hygiene and UTI Prevention: Using a dilator can be physically similar to sexual intercourse, where the movement can potentially transfer bacteria from the skin into the bladder, leading to a urinary tract infection (UTI). To minimize this risk, it's advisable to urinate immediately after each dilation session. This helps flush out any bacteria that may have entered the bladder. Additionally, drinking plenty of water before your exercise can help maintain adequate urinary flow and pressure, further aiding in the prevention of UTIs.
By following these guidelines, you can ensure a safer and more comfortable experience with dilator exercises.
