Who should not use hyaluronic acid-based products?

In general, the following people should avoid hyaluronic acid-based products:

  • People with a family history of cancer: Scientific research reported that hyaluronic acid promotes the growth of many different types of cancers. These include breast, ovarian, cervical, endometrial, prostate, and lung cancers. A recent study from the University of Michigan Health Rogel Cancer Center has suggested that hyaluronic acid can promote the growth of pancreatic cancer cells. Therefore, if you or your close relatives have a history of cancer, it may be wise to avoid using hyaluronic acid-based products. This does not suggest that hyaluronic acid causes cancer. Since the cause of these cancers is unknown, and scientific research has discovered a potential link, it would be on the safe side to choose an alternative product for managing vaginal dryness.
  • People with very severe allergies. If the hyaluronic acid is derived from animals, it could give a very bad allergic reaction: redness, itching, swelling.
  • Pregnant women or breastfeeding. There's not much scientific research about this, so we suggest speaking with your healthcare provider.
  • People with very sensitive skin. First, they should perform a patch test to see if they could have an adverse effect.

Coming Back
I used NeuEve Silk for a few months and noticed a distinct difference in how moist I was, but decided to try a competitor that uses hyaluronic acid as a test. It did not perform as well (in fact, I regressed to the pre-Silk stage), so I am returning to Silk.
